11/05/2010 - Wi-Fi Briefings 2010

This is the third year we have arranged Wi-Fi Briefing Seminars which where held in April in Manchester, Edinburgh and London and once again they were a great success with delegates.

Wi-Fi Briefings 2010

The Wi-Fi Briefing seminars in April were well attended, and feedback from delegates was very positive.  The event focussed on the key considerations for implementing public wireless in libraries as well as academic institutions and other area of local government.

With almost 50% of UK Library authorities having already implemented wireless we can learn from the experiences of those who have gone through the process of implementing an appropriate solution.  The market research that we conducted in 2007 and again in 2009 has given us a clear picture of what is happening in libraries, so we believe we are well placed to talk about the types of Wi-Fi service currently being provided, the benefits and the potential pitfalls of delivering a wireless service and the operational and technical considerations implementing public Wi-Fi.

We also believe that having been delivering wireless in libraries for our customers since November 2004 demonstrates that we have a credible track record  within libraries.  Delivering wireless public access in other areas outside libraries isn't all that different, as many of the key considerations apply to all areas of public access.

As part of the event we also demonstrated our own iCAM Wireless Access Control solution.  Feedback from delegates at the event included "Very interesting and informative" and "A good introduction to Wi-Fi"
