17/06/2013 -Insight Media exhibit at Society of Chief Librarians Seminar - June 2013

We are pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting at the Society of Chief Librarians Seminar on 20th and 21st June 2013 at Scarman House, University of Warwick.

SCL Seminar 2013

Public Libraries: Part of the Solution- Not the problem.

This year’s Seminar aims to explore the cross–cutting nature of the Public Libraries contribution both nationally and locally to key public policy initiatives and objectives.

It is about evidencing and demonstrating that a vibrant, accessible and relevant public library service is part of the solution within a local authority – not the problem.

SCL aim to offer you the same experience this year and you will see from the programme that we’ve already lined up a number of high profile speakers including Libraries Minister Ed Vaizey, who will join us on day one to share the Government’s views on libraries and outline potential challenges and opportunities going forward.

Sue Charteris, who has recently worked with Locality, on their report on community run libraries, will provide us with a view on alternative delivery models including volunteer run libraries and co-production.

Tony Travers, a highly regarded academic and journalist who specialises in issues affecting local government, will look at the current economic climate and the implications for the future for our services.

Lawyer, John Sharland will be sharing his work on the issues and the lessons to be learned from library closures and the process of judicial review.

Focusing on the areas where libraries support communities the most and Aamer Anwar, a respected Human Rights Lawyer, will be providing us with his personal insight into the way libraries have supported and will continue to support social justice.

SCL will be inviting a Director of Public Health to demonstrate how we can support efficiency and positive lifestyles through closer ties to health services and providers.

To round us off and to consider the future, SCL have invited William Sieghart, chair of the recent E-Lending Panel to close the conference with his view on the role of libraries and librarians going forward.

There will be the usual superb facilities available at Scarman House including great food and the opportunity to network with colleagues from around the UK over the two days of the Seminar.

Insight Media are looking forward to the attending this event to listen to the speakers have the opportunity to meet new people and talk to our existing customers and business associates in the library world.

We use these events as a platform to discuss and demonstrate the latest versions of our iCAM products and services together with our business strategies for the future.

We look forward to participating, so if you are attending then please come and say "hello!"

If you would like to book a session with one of the team, or there is something particular you would like to have a demonstration of or discuss then please email Neil Johnson or Tony Wilson
