We are pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting at the Society of Chief Librarians Seminar on 5th and 6th June 2014 at Scarman House, University of Warwick.

SCL Seminar 2014

Re-imagining the Public Library Offer

Thursday 5th June 2014:  Transforming Services

Friday 6th June 2014: Getting the message out

SCL have already secured a number of high profile speakers including Libraries Minister Ed Vaizey, who will join us on day one for a Q and A.

Lord Bichard, formerly Chairman of the Design Council and holder of a number of positions in Central Government, who will pose questions and offer views on how public sector organisations must change in response to diminishing resources, changing community needs and the rapid advance of technology.

Nic Bottomley owns Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights in Bath. This award winning bookshop owner believes that to thrive as an independent bookshop in the twenty-first century it’s not enough just to offer a fantastic selection of books and the friendly and conscientious service that any customer should expect from any quality bookshop. He thinks it’s also essential (and fun) to share a love of books with his customers in as many different ways as possible.

Matt Baker has worked in politics, journalism and academia and was part of the team who produced the Grimsey Review.  He will be speaking on the changing nature of town centres and the potential for libraries to be an integral part of regeneration.

Sir Peter Bazalgette, Chair of the Arts Council will look at the role of the organisation in supporting the development of the public library services.

Neil Schneider, Chief Executive of the Borough of Stockton on Tees will provide us with a perspective of how Councils are changing to meet the needs of their communities, creating partnerships to face the challenges of reducing services and investing in the future.

SCL are delighted that Corinne Hill, Executive Director of the Chattanooga Public Library Service in the USA and the Library Journal’s librarian of the Year 2014 will be rounding off the conference on Friday afternoon.  She’ll be sharing her experiences of transforming Chattanooga’s public library service into a vital hub of learning and experimentation.

Insight Media are looking forward to the attending this event to listen to the speakers have the opportunity to meet new people and talk to our existing customers and business associates in the library world.
