Wi-Fi in Libraries Survey 2009

We will be conducting market research as a follow on from our previous report, “A Review and Evaluation of Wi-Fi services in United Kingdom Public Libraries” to see how the market has changed over the last 18 months.  A copy of the initial report from 2007 “A Review and Evaluation of Wi-Fi services in United Kingdom Public Libraries” can be downloaded from here .

Based on the results of this survey, we have organised another road show of Wi-Fi Briefings for late February and March 2009.  There will be four free half-day events across Great Britain where we will highlight the types of Wi-Fi services currently being provided in UK Public Libraries.  There will also be case studies from library authorities that have already embarked on wireless project implementations and an opportunity to discuss operational considerations and technical issues.

The same events in 2007 were a huge success and on the whole, those that participated were very positive about the seminars.  We even found that those who had already had wi fi installed, or had started to plan for an implementation found the event beneficial; "Although we are some way on the journey - it was extremely useful to hear the feedback from other libraries who are on the same trip."
