We were delighted to join the celebrations last week of the 175th anniversary of the Public Libraries Act at the stunning Manchester Central Library.
It was an inspiring event, with Baroness Twycross delivering the keynote address as well as speeches from Isobel Hunter MBE, Chief Executive of Libraries Connected; Ed Jewell, President of Libraries Connected; and Louis Coiffait-Gunn, CEO of CILIP.
Attended by over 100 library leaders, authors and library users, the celebration also included contributions from library users explaining how libraries have helped them in different ways, and what libraries mean to them.
The event left us excited about the future of public libraries and how we can continue to contribute to the essential services they offer to users.
